Ryan Bechmanis added to Ravens football coaching staff

Carleton University athletics is pleased to announce that Ryan Bechmanis has been named as the defensive coordinator of the Ravens varsity football program. Previously Bechmanis was the Special Team Coordinator of the Queen’s Gaels from 2009 to 2011 and their defensive back coach from 2007 to 2011. During that time, he was part of the 2009 Vanier Cup Champions and helped boast an overall coaching record of 36 – 11 including play-offs. Head coach Steve Sumarah said “This is a great day for the Ravens program to add someone as respected in the coaching fraternity as Ryan. His coaching and recruiting abilities are second to none.  He will have an excellent opportunity to help create something special here at Carleton University”. Sumarah added. “With us close to a year away from our first training camp it was important for us to add an important component to our coaching staff.  Ryan has won a Vanier Cup and knows what it takes to accomplish such a feat; he will bring a passion and energy as we strive to get there.”
Ryan added, “I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and look forward to being a part of the Ravens Revival.  Being the “first” is something that was too hard to pass up.”
Carleton Ravens football will also be hosting a 100 Hole Golf Tournament on September 18th at Loch March.  Please contact Steve Sumarah at Steve_Sumarah@carleton for details.
